Clearly, this isn't my first venture out into Old Town Pasadena and beyond, but I decided to start blogging today so I may have a few retrospective posts later.
In our office for about a month now and finally settled in, we decided to venture out to buy mind blowing inkjet paper (i.e. 30lbs and 100brightness). Yes, we've been reduced to such trivialities. Sauntering down Colorado Blvd. in search of the holy grail of paper, we digressed as we stumbled upon My Thai Dishes. We snatched two menus at the entrance to peruse their selection.
The lunch specials immediately caught my attention. $6.75 for chicken, pork, beef, or mix vegetables. Served with soup or salad, crispy wontons, and jasmine or brown rice M-F 11am to 3pm. Torn between spicy basil noodles and pad thai, I consulted the waitress, opting for the pad thai in concurrence.
Still in need of mind bottling paper, we placed our orders togo, and asked the waitress for directions to Office Max. Only after traversing 19 blocks on foot did I realize my mistake; I had asked an asian woman for directions. I kid, it was a terrific opportunity to break sweat in work clothes and tour everything east of Marengo.
By the time we had returned to the restaurant, the food had been sitting around for at least 20 minutes. Back at the office, I opened my bag up to find a plastic takeout container - half the size of a sheet of paper - and the words "Microwave Safe" jumped out at me. They went all out, I thought. I decided to take my chances sans nuking. It was a good call as a quarter of the container housed a miniature garden medley. Another quarter housed my brown rice (no extra charge) and the remainder, the pad thai.
Given the circumstances, the food was still good lukewarm and doused with the side of peanut sauce. Not to mention, the size of the container belied the portion as I'm now sitting here eying leftovers with pad thai stains on the crotch of my pants.
